The Mountain Park Playschool is an early childhood learning center designed to serve families living in Mountain Park. We are committed to providing quality programs for children 14 months through 5 years of age. Families from surrounding communities are welcome on a space available basis.

Philosophy

As educators in the field of early childhood education, we believe children learn through play. When children engage in play, every aspect of development and learning occurs. Outdoor play is fundamental to a child's health and general well being and children at Mountain Park Playschool participate in outdoor play on a daily basis.

Teaching and support staff at Mountain Park Playschool are early childhood professionals. Many have degrees in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field.

Pre-Kindergarten

Age: 4 to 5 years old
Ratio: 20 children : 2 teachers

Pre-Kindergarten is a developmental program designed so children learn at their own pace within a group setting. The children explore a wide variety of subjects and materials through a number of integrated experiences. It is an excellent stepping-stone on the path to kindergarten.

Kindergarten

We offer a program for kindergarten-aged children during the summer.

Curriculum

Our goal at Mountain Park Playschool is to assist each child in becoming a whole, well balanced individual. To achieve this goal, we provide an abundance of stimulating, challenging materials, equipment, and activities to meet each child’s need to discover, to experiment, to create, and to experience the pleasure of learning. Curriculum planning is ongoing and is:

  • is developmentally based
  • allows children to set their own learning pace
  • builds on the children’s interests and abilities
  • encourages children to solve problems, question, and experiment

We believe outdoor play is fundamental to a child’s health and general well being. Children participate in outdoor play on a daily basis.

There is a onetime registration fee of $50 for residents and the community for all programs.

Mountain Park Playschool is a self-supporting child care center. Tuition charged to parents is set at a rate so our income offsets our monthly expenses.

The cost of our program does not vary with individual daily absence, or illness, so we do not make daily or hourly adjustments.

There is no reduction in tuition for illness, holidays, or if the center closes for inclement weather.

All tuition is paid in advance.

There is a 10% discount for each additional child in a family. The child spending the greater amount of time in the center pays the full rate, the other(s) receive the appropriate rate reduction.

The Playschool closes at 6:00 p.m. A late fee begins to accrue at 6:01 p.m. at a rate of $1 per minute.

The Playschool will give 30 days written notice to parents of any changes in fees, hours, or payment schedule.
